9 New No-Code Tools to Keep an Eye on 👀
I came across a lot of new no-code tools recently. Among all, I found these 9 tools really promising. These tools will go BIG.
2020 is a big year.
No-code or Visual Development is going on full growth mode in 2020. 🎊
A lot of players have grasped the opportunity and came to the market. Perhaps it’s time for me to make some bold predictions on which tools are going to reign supreme.
Not gonna go over those tools that are well-established. We all know Webflow, Zapier and Bubble already. Time to discover those hidden gems, the game changers…
Let’s get started:
Disclaimer: Most of the tools introduced here are in Beta or even Alpha state. Some of the introduced features hereby introduced may still be in development.
1. Draftbit
Draftbit is a native app builder. Just go to their landing page and see how stunning the builder UI is. Damn it looks so sexy that I could use it all day. Imagine Bubble has the same level of UI/UX… (Just kidding🤣).
It is also SO powerful in features.
Pixel-perfect UI customization and allows you to define your own design system
Connectivity to APIs using the Fetch Component
Export production-ready React Native code
You can imagine how smooth Draftbit’s experience is when an 7 years old little girl can build apps with it.
UI/UX at it’s finest
2. Play
Okay nowadays mobile phones are powerful. But building apps on our iPhone? Your got to be kidding me.
And they just blew my mind with the launch video. SLICK.
Multi-state Components. Dynamic Stack and Collection View layouts. JSON integration. These shouldn’t be something you expect from a native native app building app… right?
Just watch the video, I have nothing to add. 😏
3. Bildr
One day you ask yourself: “Hmm… Could we possibly build a no-code builder with a no-code builder?”🤔
“Nah.” You immediately convince yourself that it won’t be possible.
Nope. Suddenly Mark appears and proves you wrong. For the last decade Mark and his team use no-code to build custom solutions for their clients. Now he decided to turn this tool into an actual product for the public.
What can’t Bildr build when it can build Bildr!
Bildr is a powerful platform that you could build anything with it. Got one specific feature you cannot build by yourself? No need to reinvent the wheel, just head to the massive function library of Bildr and use others’ function.
Go ask Mark for a demo. I am sure he would be happy to share 😁
4. Busywork
Busywork is not just another automation tool. It is a platform that brings the power of serverless backend to no-code. You get out-of-the-box all the key components serverless technology has to offer: Authentication, Database, and Cloud Functions.
I recently tweeted about how most no-code tools nowadays are actually Static Site Generators. Webflow (When w/out CMS), Carrd, Landen, STUDIO(Check this out it is beautiful) or even older players like Wix. They all create static sites and host it for you.
Busywork gives your static sites superpowers by enabling them to become a dynamic web application.
Check this out and you know what I mean:
5. WayScript
WayScript is under-the-radar in the no-code community because it doesn’t actively sell itself as a no-code tool. But hey, it’s like Zapier with superpower. 👽
This is just a fraction of things that you could visually build with WayScript:
APIs
Forms
Workflows with advanced logic like If/then/else/loop
Sophisticated Cloud Functions/Micro-services
Website/Applications! WayScript can act like a server
Slack/Discord/Alexa/Google Assistant Bots
Integrations
It all just starts with an URL endpoint that you can literally shoot from anywhere, like a link in your Carrd site. Then just drag-n-drop pre-built blocks and you could do most things with it!
It is still in beta and completely FREE for the moment, go check it out!
6. NoCodeAPI
One-click cloud deployed APIs.
Secured. Unified endpoints. Hassle-free client-side API call. Cached for better performance. Default logging. By-pass rate limits. Track usage. Simplified docs. In-built API Playground.
If you are a developer, you already feel the value of this.
If you are a no-coder, just imagine in the past we had to read poorly written docs, write docs ourselves, write script to test APIs, write another script to log and track API usage, setup servers so we don’t expose our API keys…
Now these are all gone!
The amount of APIs for now is limited. But wait for the v2! 😍
7. Retool
Retool has been here for a while but I feel like the label of “Internal Tool” builder makes it less appealing to the community.
It is by-far the most powerful tool to display, transform and manipulate data.
You can build dashboards, admin panels, CMS and all kind of application with it.
Now here is the secret power no one has talked about yet 👇
If you ever find something you cannot do in Webflow/Bubble, try build it in Retool and embed it in your no-code site.
easily display data from external database.
create a form that update directly into external database.
allow users to record voice
capture client’s signature
And Retool’s components are pretty, you can make it responsive as well.
Don’t get limited by the word “Internal”.
Retool is extremely powerful and you can make good use of it.
8. AppGyver
Weird name, old-fashioned Twitter logo… C’mon, what kind of goodies can it be?😶
Well, this is THE hidden gem inside this list of gems. I was skeptical at first, but after I spend more time exploring the platform… Holy Shit.😫
This is by-far the most powerful no-code builder I have tried after Bubble.
It can be built into both Native iOS/Android App and Web App.
Easily use data from In-built cloud database and external APIs
Bubble-like event handling and workflow implementation
Massive marketplace for components, plugins and functions
Built with React/React Native so it’s exportable
It does have a steep learning curve, but after some moment of exploration I found working with responsive styling, complex logic and custom states in AppGyver is even more intuitive than in Bubble, maybe even more powerful.
So, a lot of potential in AppGyver. If the team can polish the UI and come up with a acceptable pricing model, it could threaten the position Bubble is in.
9. Clutch
If the Webflow overlord Sarkis himself tells you this is the future, it’s got to be it.
I don’t know what it is, but I believe the hype is real.🎇
They say you can build Design System with it.
They say you can use all components Clutch users created with Marketplace.
They say you can build and push components to npm.
They say you can connect to any backend/API, even GraphQL.
It looks like half no-code builder half cloud IDE.
You can configure 400+ CSS properties with the widget for an element
It looks so breathtaking, so next-level, so game-changing.
Clutch is what I mean when I say “Visual Development” 🤟
That’s about it! Come check this after a year to see whether my predictions are accurate. 😏
